U.S. Authorities Foil Planned New Year’s Eve Bombing Plot in Los Angeles Area

U.S. federal authorities announced that they have foiled a planned series of coordinated bomb attacks that were intended to take place on New Year’s Eve (December 31, 2025) in the Los Angeles area and Orange County, California.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), four individuals were arrested on Friday, December 12, 2025, while they were gathered in the Mojave Desert, where investigators say they were building and testing homemade explosive devices.

Officials stated that the suspects were allegedly associated with an extremist group known as the “Turtle Island Liberation Front” (TILF), which authorities described as a far-left extremist organization. The group is accused of planning simultaneous bombings at at least five locations, primarily targeting U.S.-based companies, with additional plans to later target Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) personnel and vehicles.

Law enforcement officials said that during the arrests, agents recovered explosive materials, written operational plans, and other evidence outlining the intended attacks. Authorities emphasized that the plot was disrupted before any explosives were deployed, and no injuries or property damage occurred.

The suspects have been charged with conspiracy and possession of unregistered destructive devices, and they remain in federal custody pending court proceedings. Federal officials credited ongoing intelligence monitoring and interagency cooperation for preventing what they described as a potentially deadly attack.
