🇺🇸 U.S. Introduces Permanent Visa Bond Program for Certain Visitor Visa Applicants

Beginning August 3, 2026, the United States will permanently implement the Visa Bond Program, allowing U.S. consular officers to require certain applicants for B-1/B-2 visitor visas to post a refundable financial bond before a visa is issued.

The program is intended to reduce visa overstays by requiring a financial guarantee that will be refunded if the visitor fully complies with the terms of the visa and departs the United States on time.

💵 Possible bond amounts:
🔹 $10,000
🔹 $15,000
🔹 $20,000

📍 Who is affected?

The program does not apply to all visitor visa applicants. It is limited to nationals of countries designated by the U.S. Department of State, and requiring a bond remains at the discretion of the consular officer reviewing each application.

🌍 Arab countries currently included:
🇩🇿 Algeria
🇹🇳 Tunisia
🇲🇷 Mauritania
🇩🇯 Djibouti

The following countries are not currently included in the program:
Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Libya, Sudan, Yemen, and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

📌 Important:
The U.S. Department of State may update the list of affected countries or modify the program at any time. Applicants are encouraged to review the latest official guidance before applying for a U.S. visitor visa.
